Truth be told / 2013
Overview
In the general research of my paintings, Truth be told questions our relationship to nature. What is our image of nature, and what is in that context the difference between nature and natural?
The painted landscapes are broken up in a system of geometrical constructions, adding a rational, constructivist layer to the natural, organic forms.
The paintings consist of 20 transparent layers of ink. The only colors used are cyan, magenta, yellow and black - thus creating the image similar to an inkjet printer. The other colors are the result of a blending of two or more of the primary colors.
The landscapes depicted are not real, but screenshots from different computer games. Right from the beginning, they are artificial. Our concept, or image, of nature is artificial. It is a construction of what we think nature is.
