Plotter Paintings
Drawings built in 28 passes of CMYK ink. Each layer is a separate color separation, plotted one at a time. The colors are hand-mixed. The image emerges slowly from the accumulation of hatched lines, each pass adding density and shifting the color balance of what came before.
The source images are found photographs. The plotter translates them into a drawing language of its own: horizontal lines of varying density, spacing determined by tonal value, color determined by the CMYK separation sequence. The result is not a reproduction but a re-encoding. Up close, the individual pen strokes are visible. From a distance, the image coheres.
The series includes four bodies of work:
- Family on Paper (2025)
- Burning Stroller (2025)
- Burning Home (2024)
- Mountains (2024)
